SUNSET QUAY:

Come join us where Spruce Creek meanders into Strickland Bay and joins Turnbull Bay, flowing into the Intercoastal Waterway.  Sunset Quay is surrounded by the natural abundance of this dark-water Florida river with its salt marshes and mangrove forests.  Our “back yard” is over 2000 acres of the Spruce Creek Preserve, described in the Paddler’s Guide to the Sunshine State:  “In addition to being an official Florida canoe trail, Spruce Creek has been dubbed an Outstanding Florida Waters designation, and has Class III (darn good) water quality.”

Geo-Adventure:

Geo-adventure is adventure travel that sustains or even enhances the character of a place – its environment (so it includes eco-adventure), as well as culture, heritage, aesthetics, and the well-being of its residents.  It conserves resources, respects local culture and tradition, and aims for quality. (National Geographic Center for Sustainable Destinations)

There are two ways to walk a beach: with your eyes on the horizon, seeing beyond where you are, or looking down, immersing yourself in where you are.  Kayaking is experiencing both – immersing yourself in the abundance of Florida’s waters and saltmarshes while paddling into moments of wonder and discovery, learning, connecting, belonging.
