ADDITIONAL TOURS:

-Paddle to Camp Excursion-

Leaving Sunset Quay at approximately 3:00pm, we will paddle through the mangrove forest and into the Inter Costal Waterway where our paddle will end. On the way to our own private island located on the Inter Costal  we will encounter anywhere between 12 to 26 different species of birds, including the Great White Egret, Blue heron, snakelike bird known as the Anhinga, and possibly the endangered Roseate Spoonbill.  Seeing dolphins is a big possibility and if we’re lucky even the friendly giants, the West Indian Manatee.

With the relaxing paddle lasting 45 minutes to an hour we will arrive at our uninhabited island. Upon arrival we will set up camp; set up shelter, ready the fire, and set up for the rest of the evening.  After preparation for the night is finished we will set back and watch one of the best sunsets around. After sunset our guide will start the fire and then start the gourmet camp dinner. After dinner it’s time to do whatever you want, maybe relax and reflect on the day, catch up on a book,  or maybe throw out a line and catch some fish, whatever you want.  After this time our guide will then make a fantastic dessert, while enjoying a great backcountry dessert the guide will tell interesting stories and facts about the area.  After everything calms down from dessert the camp fire light and quietness might attract a few curious dolphins. If they do decided to show up they may not leave for the rest of the night, meaning the stillness of the night will be broken every so often with dolphins playing and breaking water to breath.

When everyone wakes in the morning our guide will then start breakfast and coffee. After breakfast we will clean up the area leaving only foot prints, practicing leave no trace. After clean up we’ll take a walk around the island looking for inhabitants such as the raccoon, mangrove crabs, armadillo, and possibly the endangered gofer tortoise. After the nature walk we will then regroup on the beach to pack up, then stretch out and head back to Sunset Quay.
